ParksA robust park system is one of the many reasons for the Carson Valley’s excellent quality of life. Picnic areas shaded by mature trees beckon families for everything from impromptu lunches to family reunions. Baseball, softball, and soccer fields provide opportunities for both organized leagues and recreational play. Volleyball courts and horseshoe pitches are also available at some locations. Carson Valley’s parks include small two-acre parks like Minden Park with its classic gazebo, and Heritage Park, home of the summer “Movies in the Park” and other special events. At the other end of the spectrum is the huge 32-acre Lampe Park, featuring sports fields, a concession stand, and the largest playground structure in northern Nevada. The Carson Valley Skate Facility just across the street has 30,000 square feet of challenging features for skaters and skateboarders. The park system also includes the Douglas County Fairgrounds at the south end of the valley. The Fairgrounds include a rodeo arena, model airplane field, pavilion, and tree farm. Throughout the spring, summer, and fall you will find special events in Carson Valley’s parks such as concerts, car shows, farmer’s market, and craft shows. Many of the parks have areas that can be reserved for large groups. |
