Genoa Country Store 2299 Main Street
Phone: (775) 782-5974

Genoa, pronounced (Juh-No-uh), is the oldest permanent settlement in Nevada founded in 1851 by a group of Mormon traders. The once family owned and operated General Store back in the 1880's was a boarding house for Italian workers in Carson City. The building later became Dick's Bar and in 1976 it was moved from Carson City to Genoa. In the 1880's Genoa located on the Emigrant Trail at the base of the Sierra Nevada Mountains provided a resting place for travelers headed for California's gold rush.

Today the historic town and the Genoa Country Store are destinations for tourists, bicyclists, runners, motorcyclists and casual Sunday drivers who wish to enjoy another piece of the beautiful Sierra Nevada / Lake Tahoe experience.
