The weekend of Friday, July 25 and Saturday, July 26, “The Famous and the Infamous” will feature a special, first annual Summer Chautauqua Showcase with Master of Ceremonies Mark Twain, as portrayed by McAvoy Layne, The Young Chautauquans of Douglas County Historical Society, Al Capone as portrayed by Doug Mishler, Calamity Jane as portrayed by Kim Harris and Lucille Ball as portrayed by Leslie Goddard.
On Friday morning, July 25, from 10:00 – 11:00am, The Young Chautauquans of Douglas County Historical Society will portray an array of historical characters. This one event is free for all to attend.
On Friday evening, July 25, from 6:30 -7:30pm, see Al Capone, American gangster during the era of Prohibition, as portrayed by Doug Mishler.
On Saturday morning, July 26, from 10:00 – 11:00am, see Calamity Jane, American frontierswoman and associate of Wild Bill Hickok, as portrayed by Kim Harris.
On Saturday evening, July 26, from 6:30 – 7:30pm, see Lucille Ball, American actress, comedian and studio executive, as portrayed by Leslie Goddard.
Tickets are $15 per performance (with the exception of the free event on Friday morning), or get a pass to all events for $45. Please bring your own seating. During all events, no pets are allowed – certified service animals only. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Guests are welcome to bring snacks and beverages, as no food or beverages will be sold at these events. All events are held outdoors.
