You’re invited to attend free educational talks taking place throughout Dangberg’s 2026 Summer Festival as part of a series exploring a wide variety of local and historical topics. You can view the schedule of planned morning talks below:

June 20: Jean-Guy Tanner Dubé will talk about the V&T Railroad Branch Line between Carson City to Minden.
June 27: Author and historian Mark McLaughlin returns to the park to speak on his book The Donner Party: Weathering the Storm.
July 11: Historian Dave Pierson will share the history of the United States Navy battleship, the USS Nevada.
July 18: Glen Whorton will present on women convicts who were incarcerated at the now historic Nevada State Prison.
August 1: Jay Dickey, author and historian, presents “Ghosts From the Past: The History of Northern Nevada Pioneer Cemeteries.”
August 8: Historian Dr. Michael Fischer presents “Why I Miss Miller’s Market: A Look at What Made Douglas County So Special in 1975”
August 15: Debbe Nye, historian and genealogist, presents “Carson Valley: Melting Pot or Salad Bowl?”
August 22: Author and adventurer Tami Force presents In the Glow of the Sierra.
August 29: Historians Sue Ballew and Trent Dolan present “The Most Enduring and Remarkable Tales from the Appeal’s Past Pages.”
September 5: Karen Dustman, author and historian, presents “The Great Miami Hurricane of 1926.”
September 12: Peter Mires, author and historian, presents Wicked Virginia City.
Please keep in mind that space in the performance tent is limited. It’s recommended to bring your own seating. No pets allowed at events—certified service animals only.
