From 1973 to 1991, Milos “Sharkey” Begovich turned a cow pasture behind his casino into Gardnerville’s most legendary boxing venue. Sharkey’s Cow Pasture Slugfest wasn’t just about the fights—it was a community celebration filled with Western flair, local pride, and unforgettable matchups under the Nevada sky.

Now, the tradition returns! The Douglas County Rodeo, in partnership with Carson Valley Inn, proudly presents the revival of this iconic event, which will take place on September 4, 2025 at 7:30pm.
