Yeehaw! Grab your boots and saddle up for a rip-roarin’ Wild West Adventure Day at The Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park!
Join Dare to Be a Cowboy and The Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park on Thursday, August 8th, for a unique and immersive experience into the world of Northern Nevada ranching. This event is designed especially for kids ages 5-13, but is open to all ages.
From 10:00am to 12:00pm, young cowpokes will have the chance to learn about ranching through hands-on demonstrations by real ranchers and cowboys. Each station provides a fun and educational activity:
-Hay & Irrigation: Discover how ranchers manage hay and irrigation to keep their livestock fed and fields green. Get hands-on experience handling hay and learning about irrigation systems.
-Horses & Tack: Meet the horses and learn about the different types of tack used in ranching. Participants will get to handle real equipment and see how it’s used to care for and ride horses.
-Branding: Learn the art of branding with safe, kid-friendly activities. Create your own brand using arts and crafts materials to mimic the real process used by ranchers.
-Doctoring Cows: Step into the boots of a rancher and learn how to care for cattle. This station will teach kids about the tools and techniques used to keep cows healthy.
In addition to these exciting stations, participants will also enjoy guided tours of the historic Dangberg Home Ranch, where they can learn about the rich history of Northern Nevada ranching. Once all stations are completed, they will earn their official cowboy hat and bandana, making them true cowboys and cowgirls.
