Douglas County Kids' Fishing Derby

The Kids’ Fishing Derby will be held Saturday, June 1st and Sunday, June 2nd, along the banks of Willow Creek at Lampe Park in Gardnerville, and is a FREE event for kids ages 3- 12 years old. Each young angler will be provided everything they need to have a fun fishing experience, is allowed a 2 fish catching limit, and will be given a special gate prize at the end of their session. Additional prizes will be awarded for every special tagged fish caught, as well as to the children who catches the largest fish during each of the 7 derby sessions. The 4th session on Saturday is reserved for anglers of ALL ages with Special Needs.  While participation in the event is free, Pre-Registration is required to receive your child’s session ticket.

Registration for the event will begin on April 1st and continue until the week of the Derby. To receive your session ticket, please visit either AJ’s Stoves or Accolades Trophies in Gardnerville, Monday through Friday, during their regular business hours. Special Sign-Up events will take place every Saturday in April & May in front of AJ’s Stoves from 10AM – 1PM.

You can also register your children by mailing in your registration form to Tiffany at Kids’ Fishing Derby, Inc, PO Box 626, Gardnerville NV 89410, alongside a self-addressed, stamped envelope to receive your session tickets by mail. Forms received the final weekend in May will have their session tickets held at Will Call.

An estimated 300 Volunteers are needed to man the event, with help needed in all areas of the Derby, including River Help, Fish Cleaning, Bait & Tackle, Retail & Food Sales, Gate Prizes, and more.
