Event Details

Historian David Woodruff will read aloud what is often acclaimed to be one of the greatest short nature stories ever written, “The Tale of Stickeen: An Adventure with a Dog and a Glacier.” Stickeen is an account written by American naturalist John Muir, while on a journey to Alaska in 1880. The story recounts Muir’s exploration of an Alaska glacier with an unlikely four-legged companion, and their harrowing and electrifying near-death exploits in one of North America’s most isolated locations. Stickeen is one of Muir’s most popular writings and is a classic story of adventure, survival, and companionship.
