History Presentation - What Happens in Vegas

Welcome to “Boomtown & Bizarre,” a whirlwind tour through Las Vegas history where the slot machines weren’t the only things exploding—thanks to atomic tourism, where mushroom clouds were once the hottest show in town. Using extensive research and seldom seen images, local authors and historians David & Gayle Woodruff delve into the neon-soaked saga of Sin City’s strangest chapters, from tourists sipping cocktails while watching nuclear tests, to the Boulder Dam’s role as the original Vegas headliner (sorry, Elvis). Expect scandalous signage, desert oddities, and enough glittering weirdness to make a showgirl blush. History’s never been this flashy—or this irradiated!

This presentation will take place on September 27, 2026 from 1:00pm-2:15pm at Minden Mill Distilling. It’s free to attend, provided you have reserved a ticket.
