Talented Chautauquans will appear throughout Dangberg’s 2026 Summer Festival performing a series of intriguing historical figures from the Carson Valley and surrounding areas. All morning Chautauqua events are FREE for anyone to attend, so bring your loved ones and enjoy a slice of immersive local history! You can view the schedule of planned morning performances below:

Morning Performances, 10:00am-11:00am

June 26: Nancee Goldwater returns to share the second half of the story of her grandmother, Mary Preston, who grew up in the mining town of Bodie.
July 10: Wes Francis portrays Virginia City Watchman Alex Coryell.
July 17: Cora Johnson portrays Harriet Walley, wife of David Walley and crucial figure in running Carson Valley’s “Walley’s Hot Springs.”
July 24: *Chautauqua Showcase: “They Made America” Day 1* Hope Academy Young Chautauquans will portray an array of historical characters.
July 25: *Chautauqua Showcase: “They Made America” Day 2* Hope Academy Young Chautauquans will portray more historical characters.
July 31: Kathy and Dave Pierson portray Agnes and Percy Train—Nevada paleontologists and protectors of history.
August 14: Ross Mortensen portrays Martin Mortensen—early pioneer of Verdi, Nevada.
August 21: Dorothea Phelan portrays Felice Cohn—Nevada lawyer and suffragist.
September 4: Barbara Lewicki portrays Mary Austin—Eastern Sierra author and environmentalist.
September 11: Kim Harris portrays Wild Horse Annie—American animal welfare activist.

Please keep in mind that space in the performance tent is limited. It’s recommended to bring your own seating. No pets allowed at events—certified service animals only.
