The Carson Valley Arts Council’s Copeland Gallery is hosting an exhibit that features the work of local artists Lisa and Jim Daggett. Their specialty is handcrafted custom jewelry.

You can view the new exhibit from April 27 through June 19, 2026 at the Copeland Gallery in Minden, Monday through Saturday from 10:00am-5:00pm. Lisa’s work will be available for purchase.

CVAC will host a free reception on Saturday, May 23 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm, where there will be an opportunity to meet the artists.

In this wire wrapped earring class, you will learn how to use a bead spinner and how to wrap your own custom earrings. There will be lots of bead colors to choose from. You will also pick a style…you can choose to do a double hoop that a beaded only on the lower half or a single hoop, beaded all the way around, with optional hanging bead. This is a pretty easy class. All materials provided.

In part two of this series, local historians David & Gayle Woodruff continue a reflective look at some of the Eastern Sierra’s deep, rich, and little-known tales of history. Using vintage photos and extensive research, the Woodruffs recount a few of these esoteric anecdotes, in a 55-minute slide show presentation. From the bizarre story of Melvin Dummar, Howard Hughes and the Mormon Will…to the Sierra-Tahoe “Knights of the Lash,” the unique true tales are interesting, entertaining and amusing.

Main Street Gardnerville’s monthly Wine Walks are back for 2026! The Third Thursday Wine Walk takes place on every third Thursday from May to September, with a special theme each month. Main Street invites you to stroll along and visit the various booths run by local businesses and organizations, who will each have some tasty vino for you to try. This event takes place June 18 from 4:30pm to 7:30pm.

June’s theme is “Peace, Love, and Pinot,” a 1970’s theme! Feel free to dress for the occasion and really have fun with it. If wine isn’t your thing – don’t worry! Despite the name, Third Thursday has something for everyone. Grab the whole crew and get creative while making yourself a fun cell phone amplifier. You’ll be shown the basics of working with clay and a couple shapes to start with so that your amplifier works, then add your ideas or find some on Pinterest! Once finished sculpting your piece, it will go into the kiln and be ready in 10-14 days. You can then choose to take it home and paint it with whatever paint you have or for the cost of a studio fee, paint it with acrylic paint or glaze it at the shop. If you want to bring kids who don’t have a cell phone, just don’t add the slot that the cell phone sits in and they will still have a cool handmade sculpture.

Join this fun and easy Watercolor Workshop led by Constance Peters, for people with zero watercolor experience to intermediate level, ages 11 and up. Paint, brushes, paper are provided. Students are encouraged to bring a pencil.

You’ll be painting two 8″x10″ paintings, one with lavender as the subject, and the other a bouquet of lilacs, along with two small paintings. The focus will be on watercolor painting techniques.

Bring a snack and drink if you’d like.

This class will take place on Saturday, July 11 at the River Fork Ranch Preserve from 9:00am to noon.  A donation per participant is suggested. The Nevada Agricultural Fair returns to the Douglas County Fairgrounds for its fifth year! This event will take place from July 16-19, and is free to attend, with a focus on the science of farming, homesteading, and more, all within the community of western Nevada. There’ll be educational exhibits on clothing and textiles conservation, wildlife, horticultural photography, and more, plus food and merchandise vendors.

Main Street Gardnerville’s monthly Wine Walks are back for 2026! The Third Thursday Wine Walk takes place on every third Thursday from May to September, with a special theme each month. Main Street invites you to stroll along and visit the various booths run by local businesses and organizations, who will each have some tasty vino for you to try. This event takes place July 16 from 4:30pm to 7:30pm.

July’s theme is “Star Spangled Sips,” in celebration of America’s 250th birthday! Feel free to dress for the occasion and really have fun with it. If wine isn’t your thing – don’t worry! Despite the name, Third Thursday has something for everyone. From hydration stations to non-alcoholic options, food, and more, the Wine Walks are a wonderful way to meet and support local small businesses and meet some pretty incredible people along the way.

Registering is easy and can be done the same day of the event, or you can pre-register. It’s $20 for new participants and just $15 for returning participants (just remember to bring your Forever Glass!), or $75 for a season pass to all of this year’s Main Street Wine Walks. The MAYHEMilition Demolition Derby, presented by Simerson Events, returns to the Douglas County Fairgrounds alongside the Nevada Agricultural Fair for its fifth year! Taking place in the evenings on July 16, 17, and 18.

The MAYHEM Mowers race on Thursday, July 16 is free to attend. Tickets for events on the 17 and 18 will be $20 for General Admission and $5 for children ages 3-10, with free entry for children under 3. Proceeds will benefit the expansion of Northern Nevada’s local youth livestock groups.

All three nights, the gates will open at 6:00pm and the events will begin at 7:00pm. Sierra Shadows Lavender Farm is partnering again with Sage River Photography and the Douglas Animal Welfare Group (DAWG) for this special tail-wagging event on July 18, 2026. Please reserve your spot; time slots will be available in half-hour-long increments from 7:30am-2:00pm.

Drop in to visit the Dangberg Home Ranch house! The Home Ranch house, which was built between 1857 and 1917, was home to four generations of of the Dangberg family. Come see how they lived and what home on the ranch was really like.

On Open House days, the house will be open from 10:00am to 4:00pm for self-guided tours, and docents will be onsite to answer your questions. Visitors are welcome to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy on the grounds after visiting the house. These events are free and open to all!

Ranch Rodeos are based on actual day-to-day ranch work; a competitive version of real tasks cowboys do on the job. This event will feature Ag education, fast-paced Ranch Rodeo events, and even Goat Roping that everyone can participate in!

A Meet & Greet Reception with Carson Valley artists Edwina Ford, Celeste Pierini, and Tina Forkner will take place on Friday, August 14 in the Carson Valley Museum’s Main Exhibit Hall from 3:30pm-6:30pm. Come meet and chat with the artists about their life and work over snacks and drinks, and check out some amazing art pieces to view and shop!
