From 1973 to 1991, Milos “Sharkey” Begovich turned a cow pasture behind his casino into Gardnerville’s most legendary boxing venue. Sharkey’s Cow Pasture Slugfest wasn’t just about the fights—it was a community celebration filled with Western flair, local pride, and unforgettable matchups under the Nevada sky.

Douglas County Rodeo Fight Night honors the spirit of that beloved tradition with a modern twist in this new annual event. This year’s event will take place on August 14 at 7:30pm at TJ’s Corral in Minden.
